Roma: Soulé still on departure – Sunderland inquires, the

The future of Matias Soulé could well be decided far from Roma. According to information relayed by Tele Radio Stereo, the Argentine offensive winger (class of 2003) would favor continuing his career in one of the major European championships, after having declined financial offers from Saudi Arabia. This refusal would confirm the player's desire to remain in a competitive environment for his development.

In recent hours, Sunderland AFC carried out a first exploratory survey for Soulé. The English club, always looking for offensive reinforcements, would be in an advantageous position if management decided to accelerate. At the head of recruitment for the Black Cats, Florent Ghisolfi appears to be a key element: the sporting director knows the player well since he is the manager who, during the summer of 2024, participated in the transfer of Soulé to Roma from Juventus. This personal link between the sporting director and the player could facilitate discussions if a concrete file were to be opened.

Borussia Dortmund is also among the destinations appreciated by Argentine talent. The German club, renowned for its attractiveness to young players and its ability to develop offensive profiles, is monitoring the situation. At this stage, however, Borussia has not yet initiated formal contacts with Roma to negotiate a possible transaction, which leaves room for action for the English club.

For Roma, the situation remains to be defined. The Italian club will have to weigh between keeping a promising offensive element or agreeing to start it with a view to balancing its workforce and its finances if a satisfactory offer were to arrive. Soulé, for his part, seems determined to prioritize sporting quality and European visibility rather than a purely lucrative option.

This transfer window, marked by new appetites for young talents, could therefore see several scenarios: an acceleration of Sunderland thanks to Ghisolfi's network, a late offensive from Borussia Dortmund, or an extension of the player's stay at Roma if no concrete proposal convinces the club and the player. It remains to be seen which of the suitors will move first and whether Roma will choose to facilitate the transfer.
